Java Developer

Our client is one of the leading global market infrastructure providers. Their group provides trading, clearing, settlement, market data distribution and other services for a broad range of asset classes (securities, derivatives, FX, etc.).

Now they are looking for an experienced Java Software Developer to join their Risk IT team in Prague.

The Risk IT - Margining Services team builds and maintains the most critical Eurex Clearing risk management application Prisma. Prisma calculates a risk level, called margin requirement, in real time that needs to be collateralized by trading and clearing members.

You will work in a sub-team developing in-house backend and web GUI for Prisma reference data management (RDS – Reference Data Service). The system runs on Linux (RedHat), employing distributed and parallel processing as well as high-availability features. The main RDS component is written in Java, running on JBoss embedded in Linux environment. This component is using Spring, ActiveMQ, Hibernate, MySQL. RDS system also contains several REST-based micro-services and stand-alone applications written in Java. These services use the following technologies: Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, OpenAPI and Apache Tomcat. Python and Bash are used for auxiliary scripting.


What would you do?

  • Develop, test, maintain/support and improve Prisma RDS software
  • Proactively cooperate with team members, business analysts and other stakeholders
  • Support the technical maintenance team as necessary
  • Manage your own project priorities, deadlines and deliverables

What makes you relevant for the role?

  • Strong Java object-oriented programming skills
  • Experience with working with SQL relational databases
  • Development and scripting experience under Unix/Linux
  • Knowledge of data modelling and distributed systems (communication)
  • Familiarity with code management systems (e.g. Git)
  • English is essential
  • Critical thinking, ability to identify problems and propose solutions, teamwork, proactivity
  • Experience with working in a corporate environment
  • The following skills would be a plus:
    • Experience with messaging (ActiveMQ, AMQP or similar)
    • Experience with Linux scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)
    • Interest and/or background in financial industry, derivatives or securities trading
